The Art of Unconscious Creativity

Where There Is No Box

WHAT IS GENUINE

NEOABSTRACT ART

Neoabstract art is a term fully conceived, created and consistently used by Harlem-New York City fine artist Dennis Moore to define a new art genre that totally perceives, conceives and creates contemporary art from an unconscious, unplanned and unstructured artistic spectrum. Neoabstractionism endeavors to reach far beyond and above previous or contemporary forms of abstract and modern art making. For the creative and committed neoabstractionist, there is no box — it does not exist as a concept, vision or structure.

Basically, neoabstraction is  define by Moore as being limitless, spontaneously creative, very improvisational, and instinctive with art making. Being able to observe the process of a neoabstractionist is most instructive and definitive in affirming this art genre. Visually, the neoabstract art process is nearly like composition and improvisation across the over 40 genres of Jazz music and Jazz dancing. It can be passive, aggressive or passive-aggressive. It is also abstraction and surrealism in a new creative arts dimension and matrix.

One basic characteristic of neoabstract artworks is that they are never given a name to describe what is presented — with the exception of neoabstracts that are the personal favorite or property of the artist. Only an artist designated number or backside signature is provided for an artwork's actual identification. This type of artwork is designed to engage art viewers as the primary and invested interpreter of art, their perception of it, the personal emotions and perspectives provoked, plus the meaning they see in a specific neoabstract artwork.

This new artistic paradigm fosters no exclusive interpretation or single visual judgement of a unique artwork — thereby creating real cultural equity for all art viewers. Even the artist's signature or glyph is absent or invisible in the finished artwork. The focus by the artist for the viewer's benefit is totally on the art.

Moreover, neoabstract art is a truer expression of the artist's deepest and most unconscious visions that are not planned, sketched, premeditated or imagined consciously — until the very moment they begin work on the neoabstract artwork. Conceptual and creative spontaneity are the most essential elements in the production of a neoabstraction — exclusively with the hands and vision of the actual neoabstractionist. The completed artwork is then a truly unique and authentic rendering by the living artist's own hands and vision.

A primary characteristic of all neoabstract art is that conceptualization and creation of the artwork always results in a rendering that has visual or virtual texture, depth, dimension, color range and visual re-imagination — all created strictly from the artist's unconscious, unfixed and unplanned mindset. The final product must genuinely engage the viewer and allow them to transcend their usual visual perception — sometimes causing introspection or reflection...

This new genre and spectrum of fine art is always created as a completely unplanned and unconsciously conceived project when it is initially produced by the artist. Since the artist is sensing and creating in the moment, no neoabstract artwork is ever sketched, preconceived or fabricated in any way prior to its creation. Neoabstract art has the basic trait and requirement of being wholly conceived and only created exclusively by the actual hand, mind and spirit of the artist not assistants, templates or any manufactured process from the moment a neoabstract artist begins to create their artwork.

Artistic provenance and authenticity is paramount — regardless of the efforts by some who give primacy to profit and celebrity. Even in neoabstract art, artisanship is an ethic. Just like with the Jazz artist and audience, you know and feel when you're making real art.

Both commercially and monetarily, neoabstract artworks are truly unique one of a kind creations that are never-ever duplicated or reproduced en mass in any other form other than the original and authentic art production created by the hand or body of the actual neoabstract artist — or an exclusively licensed artist's estate approved facsimile.

In the neoabstract art process, all conception to creation of these artworks are purely, singularly and exclusively a human endeavor — totally detached from any digitized or NFT (non-fungible token) monetized process. Moreover, any form of creation, recreation, display, likeness, impression or representation of a neoabstract artwork is covered under sections 106 and 107 of U.S. Copyright Law. This all supports the heart and integrity of a one-of-a-kind original neoabstract artwork for the artist and buyer/owner. In the decades to come — for buyers and institutions — material access certification will become critical to the true worth of artworks.

The name, signature, symbol, glyph, logo or any other unique authentication device by the artist is never displayed anywhere, except on the back of the original artwork. Therefore, a neoabstract artwork can only be certified and registered exclusively to the artist, their estate, and a legal buyer/owner of an artist's artwork in perpetuity. Again, provenance and authenticity matters.

Most essentially, all artworks conceived and created by a neoabstract artist are exclusively licensed to the owner/buyer for their personal or public display only. Any form of warehousing or archiving of the artwork automatically voids all buyer or owner rights per the agreement with the artist or the artist's estate. Neoabstracts are fundamentally created for certifiable public or personal display — not stored or hidden away from readily accessible viewing. The actual neoabstract artist or their estate will permanently retain complete copyright ownership of their artwork. These key factors protect the authenticity, integrity, provenance and legacy of the artwork on behalf of both the neoabstract artist, the buyer/owner, and a public that is entitled to view, assess and appreciate it.

This creation process is very fundamental to a neoabstract artist's conception and creation of art. This defines neoabstract artistry, neoabstract art, the terms neoabstraction, neoabstractionism, and being called a neoabstractionist or neoabstract artist — while empowering this artist to always create across a diverse mosaic and a wide spectrum or matrix of unique neoabstract artworks. Unrestrained visual perception and production for the neoabstract creative is highly essential... ▼

By principle and artistic vision, the neoabstract artist does not just think, imagine and create outside or beyond the box. In the full perception, vision, journey and spirit of neoabstract artists, boxes do not exist. There is no box. The creative parameters extend beyond the conscious imagination and visual perception.

In the imagining and writing of astral literature — a creative adjunct of neoabstractionism also conceived and created by Dennis Moore — this artistic creation process is employed in fiction writing — rendering the fullest expression of ideas, perspectives, topics, issues, experiences and visions that may be constrained by standard publishing and literary creativity.

Here too, there surely is no box around the visions, subjects, pathways or expressions of neoabstract writers — as they relentlessly explore and expand limitless vistas of critical thinking from uniquely human perceptions, while writing in this new literary genre. With astral literature (or astraliterature), imagine writing or describing a color, shape, texture or concept that does not exist — with full narratives about its existence and purpose. This could motivate an evolution in fiction writing, poetry and spoken word.

This genre of short form fiction writing and documentation is not for those that want to consume information in the usual or fixed forms of writing literature. It requires a new paradigm and spectrum of thinking about and perceiving information, visual elements and ideas. Astral writing challenges a reader's logic and reality.

Whether it is the artistic portal of neoabstraction or astral literature, for Dennis Moore all art is about living, as all art is life — and all life is linked to an art. Art is that fail-safe system within everyone that protects us all from the stress, strife and dis·ease we encounter or create in our lives. Beyond our perceptions of a box, there is no box. We are only limited by our naïveté or an inability to imagine.

NeoabstractArt.com endeavors to be the premier portal and a global village for any and all neoabstract artists — whether the neoabstractionist is a painter, sculptor, fiction writer, photographer, videographer, cinematographer, architect, metaverse designer, fashion designer, dancer, poet, musician, singer or any performance artist: there truly is no box.
